FACTS ABOUT CYPRESS
Cypress is a softwood, but it is graded under a special section in the National Hard Wood Lumber Association's rules. Even though it has needle like leaves typical of softwoods, cypress loses its leaves during the winter and autumn, this is where the name "Bald Cypress" is usually used.
We dry our cypress to a moisture content of approximately 15 %. Cypress custom sawed and timbers are freshly sawed, they are a wet wood with a moisture content of up to 50%.
Cypress planes easy and resists warping. Even though cypress is resinous, the resin (known as cypressene) isn't  a sticky sap like other woods. It gives well, sands easily and readily accepts finishes. It generally has a superior durability, holds paint well and resisting weather.

HOW TO FIGURE THE FOOTAGE:
Board feet is a measurement of volume. Square ft is a measurement of area. Linear feet is a measurement of length. Board feet is a term used within the lumber industry equal to a piece of wood 12"x12"x1" . Square feet is the area, simply width x length like 20'x40' = 800 square feet. Linear feet is how long something is like 1"x8"x14' and 6"x10"x14' are both 14 linear feet long.
First determine the square footage (area) you have to cover. If the wall is 10' high and 50' long, that's 10'x50' = 500 square feet.
Next pick the cypress product you want to use. Determine the coverage of that product (a1x6 piece of T&G gives you 5.25" of coverage). Then divide 12 by that number and the new number is what we call a conversion factor. You know now exactly how much cypress product you need to cover that ares. We suggest you add 5%-10% extra to be safe.

EXAMPLE: Cover an exterior wall with 1x6 (5 1/4 coverage) cypress:

1st: Area to cover: exterior wall 10'x50' = 500 square feet
2nd: Item chosen to cover wall: coverage 5.25"
3rd: 12 divided by 5.25 = 2.29 which is the conversion factor
4th: Multiply 500 sqft x 2.29 conversion factor = 1145 linear ft
5th: Add 5% -10% extra
